With Airtel roll-out of 3.75G services, the second network with such capacity after Etisalat launched its 3.75G services in September 2011, the telecom company is fulfilling its promise of providing better broadband internet services to its yearnings customers.
The new platform, with speed up to 42MBPS, will surely boost customer’s experience with high-speed mobile broadband and internet services, enabling consumers to watch live TV, download music, check emails, play online games and make video calls using enabled devices, the company said.
It will be recalled that in September, 2011, Etisalat launched its 3.75G services, but with Airtel introduction of her 3.75G services, Airtel is now the only operator with five different channels for data bundle activation.
According to Airtel Nigeria Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Rajan Swaroop, “The latest innovation is timely and a direct response to the yearnings of telecommunications consumers across the globe and especially in Nigeria where technological advancement is moving with the speed of light in line with global trends”.
In 2010, Bharti Airtel, an Indian company with subsidiaries in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, invested USD 600 million in Nigeria’s telecommunication sector following its take-over of the country’s holdings of Kuwaiti-based Zain after closing a USD 10.7 billion deal.
In my previous articles where I wrote about my experiences with all the GSM broadband internet providers in Nigeria, I ranked Airtel very low and also advised customers to avoid it because the company was not able to provide reliable and fast internet broadband services, but with the roll-out of this platform, am expecting to see more users who desire better speed and good quality of broadband internet services migrating to Airtel Nigeria in a matter of time.
