The ARISE Home Farms Scheme 2.0 offers a real opportunity for residents in Akwa Ibom State who wish to turn their home gardens or small‐scale farms into profitable ventures. The scheme aims to encourage home gardening and farming at household level so families can grow food for their own consumption — and possibly scale it into a business. Recent beneficiaries in earlier rounds were awarded grants of ₦500,000 to support and expand their farms.
If you have space at home — backyard, front yard, balcony or small parcel of land — this grant could help you start or expand production of food crops, vegetables, spices or even small livestock/fish farm projects.
Program Benefits
- Receive a grant of ₦500,000 when selected. This can be used to buy seedlings, basic farm inputs, seeds, tools or improve soil and farm set-up.
- Opportunity to convert a small home garden into a source of fresh produce, and possibly surplus for sale — helping reduce food costs and generate additional income.
- Support from the state through the scheme adds legitimacy to your farm effort — good for those looking to scale or formalize their farming activities.
- Encouragement of self-sufficiency: the scheme aligns with broader food-security goals, promoting garden-to-table culture and reducing dependence on external food supply.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify under ARISE Home Farms Scheme 2.0 you should:
- Be a resident of Akwa Ibom State.
- Possess a valid identity (NIN) and use accurate personal details for registration.
- Have a home garden or small farm (backyard, front yard, container garden, or small parcel of land) with visible crops or livestock — the scheme focuses on home-based agriculture, not large commercial farms.
- Be ready to document your garden/farm via a short video and pictures — showing farm location and produce.
How To Apply
- Visit the official portal: arisehomefarms.akwaibomstate.gov.ng.
- Register with your valid email and NIN. Provide personal information such as name, address, phone number.
- Record a short video (not more than 2 minutes) showing your home farm or garden — ensure you appear in the video, no one else. The video must show the crops or livestock and that the farm is located at your home.
- Upload the video along with your registration details. Ensure all information is accurate to avoid disqualification.
- Await verification — scheme officers may visit to check your garden. If selected, you will receive the ₦500,000 grant to support your farming efforts.
- Deadline for submission of all applications is 9th December, 2025.
This is a great chance to turn a simple home garden into a productive source of food and income. If you decide to apply be sure to gather everything early and double-check your application before submission.
