EkoAI Academy 2026: Free AI Training in Lagos Without Any Coding Experience

Eko AI Academy

Eko AI Academy

The EkoAI Academy 2026 is one of the most practical free training programmes to come out of Lagos State in recent years, and it is open right now. Backed by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and delivered through Lagos Innovates in partnership with InnoPower Africa, the programme is designed to train 10,000 young Lagosians in real, usable AI skills, not theoretical concepts, not weeks of programming tutorials, but the kind of hands-on knowledge that can improve a job application, sharpen a business pitch, or make day-to-day work faster and smarter.

If you live in Lagos, are between 18 and 40, and have been watching the conversation around AI wondering where you fit in, this programme was built for exactly where you are right now.

What EkoAI Academy Is and How It Works

Most AI training programmes assume you want to become a developer or data scientist. EkoAI Academy starts from a different place. The focus is on prompt engineering, learning how to communicate with AI tools in plain language to get results that are actually useful. No code. No algorithms. Just a clearer understanding of how to work with the AI tools that are already reshaping how jobs are done and how businesses operate.

The programme uses a train-the-trainer model. LSETF selects and certifies 100 trainers through an advanced programme, and each certified trainer then delivers the curriculum to approximately 100 learners within their community across Lagos. That structure is intentional. It means training does not stay concentrated in one location, it spreads into neighborhoods across the state, reaching people who might not have easy access to tech hubs in Victoria Island or Yaba.

Certified Trainer positions are filled separately through a targeted selection process and are not the same as enrolling as a learner.

The Two Tracks

Every applicant chooses one of two tracks at the point of enrollment depending on what they are trying to achieve.

Job Seeker Track

For people looking to improve their chances of getting hired. The training covers using AI to write stronger CVs and cover letters, preparing for interviews, improving professional communication, and building digital capabilities that are increasingly expected in modern workplaces. If you are a fresh graduate, an NYSC corps member, or someone actively looking for work, this track gives you a clear edge over candidates who are not using these tools.

Entrepreneurship Track

For people who are running a business or planning to start one. The training covers using AI for business planning, understanding your market, writing content, improving customer communication, planning marketing campaigns, and handling everyday business tasks more efficiently. If you sell on social media, run a small service business, or are building something from the ground up, the skills in this track are immediately applicable to what you are already doing.

Both tracks are practical first. The emphasis throughout is on skills you can begin using the same week you learn them.

Who the Programme Is For

The EkoAI Academy 2026 is open to Lagos residents who meet the following criteria:

No prior experience in AI, coding, or technology is required. The programme is explicitly designed to be accessible to people who have never worked with AI tools before. Job seekers, students, recent graduates, employed people looking to improve their digital skills, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and aspiring business owners are all the intended audience.

What You Get

Participants who complete the EkoAI Academy 2026 receive:

That last point is worth paying attention to. LSETF is not just a training body. It is the same fund that runs loan programmes, grant support, and employment schemes across Lagos. Being part of the EkoAI Academy puts you inside that ecosystem, which has value beyond the training itself.

Why This Matters Right Now

AI is not a future concern for Nigerian workers and entrepreneurs. It is already changing what clients expect, what employers require, and what customers respond to. The businesses and professionals who are ahead of that shift right now are mostly people who taught themselves or paid for expensive courses. EkoAI Academy removes the cost barrier and, more importantly, removes the intimidation factor by starting where most people actually are rather than where tech companies assume everyone should be.

10,000 spots is a large number, but programmes like this fill up faster than people expect, particularly once word spreads through community networks and social media. If you meet the criteria, the time to register is now rather than when the cohort is already full.

How to Apply

Enrollment is done through the official Lagos Innovates portal. The process is straightforward: fill out the online form, confirm your eligibility details, and select your preferred track.

No deadline has been officially published for the EkoAI Academy 2026 at the time of this post. Given the 10,000-participant target and the community-based delivery model, enrollment is expected to close once cohort capacity across the state is reached.
