Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance 2026: For Young African Innovators

Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance

Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance

There are networking programmes and then there are alliances that have produced Flutterwave, Andela, Yoco, and a generation of African founders who have collectively raised over $2 billion from leading venture capital firms across the world. The Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance 2026 is the latter, and applications are open right now for the next class of African innovators ready to take their turn at building the continent’s future.

If you are a young African with a venture at any stage, from early idea to growth stage, and you want to be part of a tight, high-trust network of founders backed by real capital and real opportunity, this is the most important application you will submit this year.

What Is the Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance?

The Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance (HEA) is a nonprofit organisation founded in 2008, built on a single, powerful idea: that the most important resource any African founder needs is other African founders who are already doing the work at scale.

The name itself comes from the Swahili word “Harambee,” meaning all pull together. Every member of the alliance, known as a Harambean, signs the Harambe Bretton Woods Declaration, a formal pledge to work together as one to unlock the full potential of Africa. That commitment is not symbolic. It is the operational principle that has made Harambeans one of the most trusted and results-producing entrepreneurship networks on the continent.

Since its founding, the alliance has spawned tech-enabled companies that have collectively generated over 3,000 jobs and attracted investment from Google Ventures, CRE Ventures, Accel, and some of the world’s most respected capital allocators. Alumni who went through this network as young founders are now running companies valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars and investing in the next generation of African ventures through funds of their own.

What Harambeans Actually Get

Membership in the Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance 2026 is not an honorary title. It is an entry point into a structured ecosystem built specifically around what African entrepreneurs need to grow.

The Harambeans Prosperity Fund

This is one of the most significant benefits of membership and it is exclusive to admitted Harambeans. The Prosperity Fund is a rules-based co-investment vehicle that actively channels capital into Harambean-led ventures by leveraging the alliance’s investor network. Non-members cannot access it. Once you are in, your venture becomes eligible for co-investment from one of the most connected pools of African-focused capital in existence.

Fellowships and Scholarship Opportunities

Admitted Harambeans gain access to prestigious fellowships and scholarship partnerships, including programmes aligned with institutions like the Fletcher School, Oxford Skoll, Yale, and Oxford Pershing Square. These are not just academic opportunities. They are the kind of credentials and networks that open doors which most founders spend years trying to reach.

Venture Capital Access

Beyond the Prosperity Fund, Harambeans are connected to a broader ecosystem of venture capital partners who understand African markets and have a track record of backing the right people at the right time.

Knowledge Transfer Sessions

Members get access to Gold Room Briefings, structured knowledge-sharing sessions that bring the collective experience of the Harambeans network to every member. These cover everything from navigating capital raises to managing teams, entering new markets, and building ventures that last.

The Harambeans Bretton Woods Symposium (HBWS)

Every class of Harambeans is officially welcomed at the annual Bretton Woods Symposium, a four-day gathering hosted at MIT, Harvard University, and the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, USA. The 20th edition is scheduled for April 27 to 30, 2027.

This is not just an event. It is the moment where a group of strangers from across Africa and the diaspora become a lifelong professional family. During the symposium, the new class signs the Harambe Bretton Woods Declaration in the Gold Room of the Mount Washington Hotel, an act that has been carried out by every class since the alliance was founded.

Who Is Eligible to Apply

The Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance 2026 is open to any young African innovator who meets the following criteria:

The alliance is explicitly inclusive at the idea stage. You do not need a registered company, a term sheet, or a working product to apply. What you need is a clear sense of the problem you are trying to solve, evidence that you have begun thinking about it seriously, and the kind of ambition that the people reviewing your application will recognise immediately.

If you do not meet the criteria for a specific Harambean opportunity such as the Prosperity Fund or a particular fellowship, you can still be admitted to the alliance based on the strength of your venture or idea. Additional opportunities become available after admission.

What the Application Requires

To apply to the Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance 2026, you will need to prepare the following:

The full list of application questions is available on the Harambeans website before you begin filling out the form. Reading through them before you start is strongly recommended.
