Scaling a healthcare or sanitation startup in Africa is uniquely challenging. The regulatory hurdles are steep, the adoption cycles are long, and securing the right funding often feels impossible—especially if you belong to an underrepresented demographic. If you are building a social enterprise in Africa aimed at solving critical health, water, or hygiene issues, a massive global opportunity just opened its doors.
The Reckitt Catalyst Global Accelerator Program (2026/2027 Cohort) is officially accepting applications to help impact-driven founders scale their businesses and gain global traction.
What is it About?
Delivered by consumer health giant Reckitt—the multinational behind household brands like Dettol and Harpic—in partnership with Yunus Social Innovation and the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx), this is a six-month, fully virtual accelerator running from October 2026 to April 2027.
The initiative focuses entirely on scaling B2B, B2G, or highly affordable B2C innovations that expand access to health and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services. Rather than just offering basic mentorship, the program is designed to build pathways for system-level transformation, preparing founders to tap into large-scale corporate supply chains and government procurement systems.
Who Should Apply?
Reckitt is intentionally looking for social entrepreneurs who have historically faced systemic barriers to accessing resources. You are an ideal fit if you meet the following baseline requirements:
- Your startup is led by a woman or an underrepresented founder (including minority teams, immigrants, or individuals from low-income communities).
- Your business operates actively in an eligible market, which includes Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa.
- You run a legally registered for-profit or non-profit entity with a clear, financially sustainable revenue model.
- Your product directly addresses challenges like clean water systems, disease prevention, FemTech, access to medicines, or last-mile healthcare delivery.
- You have at least one full-time team member dedicated to the business.
What You’ll Gain
Getting selected for this global cohort provides core leverage points that go far beyond standard accelerator models:
- Catalytic Funding: Selected enterprises can unlock up to $30,000 USD in flexible, equity-free financing at the end of the program to boost operations.
- Corporate & Elite Mentorship: Direct access to seasoned professionals from Reckitt’s global executive network to refine your operational and scaling models.
- Targeted Masterclasses: Practical, hands-on training sessions covering impact measurement, impact finance, and advanced go-to-market strategies.
- Global Ecosystem Access: Direct connections to a global community of practice, health experts, and a dedicated network of active impact investors.
