The Association for the Promotion of Sciences in Africa (APSA) is a France based organization that aims the promotion of research and innovations in science in Africa. APSA together with its local and international partners is now organizing an innovation challenge in sustainable development for young scientists in Africa. The challenge will be organized in Ethiopia with candidates from all over Africa are welcome.
Candidates are expected to submit a project or a Prototype describing the characteristics of an innovative device they wish to propose as part of the Challenge. Projects or prototypes should be innovative solutions for sustainable development and environmental, health and any relevant societal problem. Projects should be innovative, address a given problem and have a potential to logical scale up.
All projects will be on public exhibit for a week, this shall give candidates a chance to reach a wider audience. A panel of judges from APSA and other technical institutes will evaluate each individual project and awards will be given to the top three projects in the following scheme:
Eligibility:
African scientists working in Africa are eligible to apply. Young scientists (under the age of 30) and Women applicants are highly encouraged.
Awards:
1st Prize: 2500 euros and a 1-month research stay of a maximal cost of 3000 euros in a High-Tech lab.
2nd Prize: 1500 euros and a 1-month research stay of a maximal cost of 3000 euros in a High-Tech lab.
3rd Prize: 1000 euros.
Main dates:
April 15th 2018: opening date for registration and prototype submission.
July 31st 2018: closing date for registration and prototype submission.
December 2018: Final and prize ceremony.
