Theme: Birthing a New Crop of Agropreneurs
The Nigeria Agriculture Awards Youth Project and Essay Competition is an initiative by AgroNigeria, aimed at raising a generation of agric-savvy youths with the wherewithal to trigger an agriculture revolution in Nigeria and ultimately economic emancipation for the country.
Its first series, sponsored by Triton Group last year attracted a sizeable number of youths from across the country, with winners awarded a total sum of two million, two hundred and fifty thousand naira. This yearโs competition themed: โBirthing a New Crop of Agropreneursโ ย specifically targets youths in secondary schools, tertiary institutions and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who will be awarded a total sum of four million naira.
First Category: National Youth Service Corps
Project:ย Conceptualize a project that solves a key problem in the agricultural sector, draw up a timeline for its completion and the likely impact it will have if implemented.
Guidelines for Eligibility
Stage One

- After confirmation, send your entry, including full name, contact information, passport photograph and eligibility card toย [email protected]
- Must be an individual effort
- Entry must be the original work of the corps member
Stage Two
Shortlisted Candidates will participate in a social media contest spanning two weeks.
Final Stage
Shortlisted corps members will be contacted for an interview to defend their projects.
Prizes:
1st place ย โ N1 Million
2nd place โ N500,000
3rd place โ N250,000
Second Category: Students of Tertiary institutions
Project:ย Conceptualize a project that solves a key problem in the agricultural sector, draw up a timeline for its completion and the likely impact it will have if implemented.
Guidelines for Eligibility

- Must be a team effort
- Minimum of three persons in a team
- Entry must be the original work of the team
- Candidates may not be from the same institution
Stage Two
Shortlisted Candidates will participate in a social media contest spanning two weeks.
Final Stage
- Shortlisted teams will be contacted for an interview to defend their projects.
Prizes:
1st place ย โ N1 Million
2nd place โ N500,000
3rd place โ N250,000
Third Category: Secondary School Students
Essay Topic:ย Imagine that you have just been elected Governor of your state; What critical agricultural policies would you implement.
Emphatic consideration should be given to:
a) Identification of key issues
b) Recognition of unique agro-characteristics of the State in point
c) Knowledge of the workings of the governance framework
Guidelines for Eligibility
Stage One

- Must be an individual effort
- Entries should be at least 500 words and not more than 1000 words(Format: Microsoft Word Document, Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 14)
- Entry must be the original work of the candidate
- Candidates are encouraged to be creative
Stage Two
Shortlisted Candidates will participate in a social media contest spanning two weeks.
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview to defend their projects.
- Entries will be disquali๏ฌed if the shortlisted candidate fails to demonstrate a command of the content submitted.
Prizes:
1st place ย โ N250, 000
2nd place โ N150,000
3rd place โ N100,000
Deadline for all Entries โ June 5th, 2018.
