Women's World Banking Fintech Innovation Challenge

WOMEN’S WORLD BANKING fintech innovation Challenge 2023

Participate in the only Fintech Innovation Challenge targeted on women. Help to close the gender gap in financial services by contributing to technological innovation.

The Challenge

Women’s adoption of digital financial services has increased dramatically in recent years. According to the most recent Global Findex Report, the gender gap in important emerging countries has shrunk from 9% to 6% for the first time in a decade, thanks in part to an increase in the number of low-income women using digital financial services.

Now is the time to capitalize on this momentum by utilizing digital financial services as an entry point for low-income female clients to adopt and use a comprehensive array of formal financial goods and services. Low-income women represent a sizable, unexplored market potential for digital financial service providers, particularly fintechs, who can use technological innovation to overcome the ongoing barriers to reducing the gender gap in financial services.

The 2023 Fintech Innovation Challenge is seeking applications from fintechs that are pioneering innovative financial solutions that address the continuing issues of servicing low-income women.

What is the Fintech Innovation Challenge?

Women’s World Banking’s Fintech Innovation Challenge finds and promotes four later-stage fintechs developing innovative financial solutions that overcome persistent hurdles in serving the low-income women’s market through a highly competitive process.
