Most layer farms in Nigeria don’t fail for lack of buyers. They fail when the next batch of 1,000 point-of-lay pullets is due and the money isn’t there, or when old layers are sold in a panic to pay bills. This plan fixes both before you buy a single bird.
The Layers Poultry Business Plan is built around a 2,000-bird battery-cage farm on a leased site in Obafemi Owode, Ogun State, selling to egg distributors, bakeries, eateries and households across Ogun and Lagos. How the farm makes money
- Table eggs, every day. Two batches of 1,000 birds placed three months apart, so you sell about 46 crates a day once the farm is full, even when one batch is being replaced.
- Old layers, at the right time. No old-layer sales in Year 1. The first batch is sold in Month 14, when laying drops below about 70%, timed to festive demand where possible.
- Poultry manure. Dried cage manure bagged and sold to vegetable and pepper farmers.
