The FG Oxford-TVET IDEAS Solar Training Program is designed to equip young Nigerians with market-relevant skills in solar and inverter installation to reduce unemployment. It is an initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with Oxford-TVET under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project.
This initiative is part of the national push to equip Nigerians with practical, market-ready technical skills in renewable energy and sustainable power solutions. It is designed for young people who want to build a career, start a business, or gain hands-on expertise in the solar energy sector, which is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.
Benefits of the Program
- Free Tuition: Training fees are fully covered by the Federal Government.
- Monthly Stipend: Beneficiaries receive a stipend of ₦22,500 per month for the 6-month duration.
- Certification: Participants earn a recognized professional certificate upon graduation.
- Post-Training Support: Graduates may receive “take-off grants” or starter packs (equipment) to help launch their careers or businesses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Nigerian citizen.
- Must be currently unemployed.
- Must commit to the full 6-month training period.
- While not always required, a STEM background or previous technical experience is often prioritized.

Applications for the 2026 cohort has officially opened as of January 2026.

- Upload required identification documents (e.g., NIN, birth certificate).
