The Umholi we Africa (UwA) Fellowship is an exciting opportunity for high-potential African leaders to join a transformative program designed to empower the next generation of senior leaders in governance and public service.

About the Umholi we Africa Fellowship

Organized by the African Leadership Academy, the UwA Fellowship is a prestigious two-year program aimed at cultivating young African leaders by placing them in Special Advisor roles within Ministerial offices and intergovernmental organizations. Fellows will contribute to policy formulation, gain invaluable governance experience, and build powerful networks to support their careers in public service.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Umholi we Africa Fellowship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an African Leadership Academy (ALA) alumnus, a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, or an African Leadership University (ALU) alumnus.
  • Hold a university degree.
  • Have at least four years of relevant work experience.
  • Be a national and resident during the fellowship in one of the following countries:
    Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
