Introduction
Water is an essential element for humanity as well as Industries. The water testing labs measure the health of the water. It is also responsible for carrying out tests to ensure and maintain the quality of water. In this method, the experts collect water from different soils to run tests. The lab provides analyses that either this water is suitable for commercial use or not in results and reports.
Standard tests that the lab conducts
Test of temperature
The reason behind testing the temperature is that it helps in analyzing the rate of a biochemical reaction. The reactions that occur in the aquatic environment and their capability of happening. If the water temperature is too high, this limits the ability of water to hold oxygen.
It results in decreasing in an organisms’ capacity to stop pollutants. Water testing labs will tell us the chemical, biological and physical properties of water. The trial of temperature is the best way to analyze the possible effects of water on our health.
PH testing
The rapid progression in technology helps us to introduce such products which can help us to get healthy water.
Healthy water is the life of every organism. In PH testing, we measure the acidity of the water. However, humans can invent techniques to filter the water and get the desired results for safe drinking.
The aquatic organisms are unable to do so. The best Ph for the aquatic organism is 6 to 8. In the water testing lab, the experts apply techniques to ensure safe drinking for marine organisms.
Chloride and salinity testing
Chloride is present in freshwater as well as saltwater. According to experts, chloride level becomes worse if minerals dissolve and the industrial waste mixes up. In salinity testing, the experts’ measure the non-carbonate salts present in the water or salts that are dissolved in it. The measuring of salinity indicates if the water table rises, it may result in salty topsoil.
Dissolved oxygen test and turbidity test
A dissolved oxygen test is essential to the trial that the lab conducts. In this test, the lab conducts research and analyzes the amount of oxygen present in water. Without this, the aquatic organisms are unable to process cellular respiration. In turbidity tests, we measure the number of minute particles that are present in water.
It is also known to analyze the clarity of the water. If the turbidity level is high, this affects photosynthesis because the light is unable to penetrate due to an increase in the temperature of the water.
Nitrate and phosphate
The presence of these elements is an indicator. Most people use artificial chemicals through detergents. The fertilizers are harmful and can cause eutrophication.
Metals
Experts often find such elements or metals that do not occur naturally in the water in this test. Metals such as Aluminium, antimony, cadmium, copper, nickel, uranium, and arsenic; these elements do not occur naturally and find their way into water through human activities.
Such as mining, use of metal as transportation of goods. Often industrial waste conducts heavy metals. These metals are harmful to our kidneys, nervous system, and liver.
This intake of metals results in poisoning in hemoglobin production, kidney failure, damage to the reproductive system, and chronic damage to joints. The longtime vulnerability leads to renal dysfunction and a very severe condition. Mercury exposure may lead to tremors, gingivitis, and much other psychological illness.
The other tests
The other tests are the following :
- TRH- petroleum hydrocarbons testing
- BTEX- monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
- PAHs- benzopyrene testing
Changing in state and quality water
Several factors involve disrupting the quality of water.
- Chemicals enter the water through fertilizers, and pesticides harm the quality of water significantly.
- Erosion and overgrazing in soil ultimately affect the quality of water to a great extent.
- Pollution that comes in water from industrial sectors and other service stations make water unsafe. This waste from factories includes many types of chemicals that harm humans and decrease water quality.
- Disposals and plastic are a significant threat to the quality of water.
- The unsafe chemicals mix with water, and we grow crops from contaminated water. When we eat such food, it will result in different disorders.
Conclusion
Conclusively, water testing in the lab is essential as humans’ dependency on it is increasing. It is a serious matter to discuss the quality of water every country shall encourage water testing labs. Moreover, the periodic testing of water will make us aware of the consequences.
