Graphic Design — practical design using industry-standard tools, with a focus on building a portfolio that meets the expectations of global brands and creative agencies.

Video Production and Editing — from shooting to post-production, covering the tools, formats, and delivery standards that content-hungry businesses are paying for right now.

UI/UX Design — product thinking, user research, wireframing, and interface design, one of the most in-demand and highest-paying remote skill sets in the global market.

These four tracks were not chosen arbitrarily. They reflect what global clients, agencies, startups, and companies are actively paying for on freelance platforms and through direct hire, and they were selected specifically because they offer real earning potential from Nigeria without requiring relocation.

Two Pathways, One Goal

Not everyone joining GATEWAY is starting from the same point, and the programme accounts for that.

Foundations Pathway: Designed for complete beginners. If you have not worked in digital or creative fields before, this pathway teaches you the core skills from scratch and builds you toward gig-readiness. You do not need to choose this pathway on your own. Your application and assessment results will help the programme place you correctly.

Growth Pathway: Designed for people who already have some digital or creative experience but are struggling to convert it into consistent income. This pathway focuses on portfolio development, global positioning, and direct connection to gig opportunities. It runs over three months.

Both pathways run on a mobile-first, self-paced learning model. Participants are expected to put in 7 to 10 hours per week, which makes the programme workable alongside school, NYSC, or existing part-time work.

What the Programme Provides Beyond Training

Free access to physical tech hubs: If you do not have a laptop, reliable internet, or stable electricity, the programme has addressed this. Fully equipped partner hubs are available across all 10 participating states at no cost to participants. You can show up, use the equipment, connect to the internet, and learn in a structured environment without spending anything.

Mentorship: Participants get guidance from experienced digital professionals throughout their learning journey, not just content to watch on a screen.

Portfolio development: One of the most overlooked parts of breaking into gig work is building a portfolio that clients outside Nigeria will take seriously. GATEWAY has this built directly into the programme structure.

Gig placement support: The end goal is income, not just knowledge. The programme connects participants with platforms and employers actively looking for the kind of talent being trained.

Transport stipends and childcare support: Available for eligible participants, removing two of the most common practical barriers that stop young people from completing programmes like this.

Financial services access: Participants also get support with the financial infrastructure needed to receive and manage income from global clients.

Who Can Apply

Eligibility is straightforward:

• Nigerian citizen
• Aged 18 to 35 at the time of registration
• Currently residing in one of the 10 participating states: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja (FCT), Delta, Edo, Rivers, or Enugu
• Minimum of secondary school education
• Basic digital literacy

The programme specifically prioritises women, persons with disabilities, and displaced youth in its selection process. If you fall into any of these categories, your application is treated with additional consideration.
