What Is the UNESCO-UNEVOC Skills in Action Photo Competition?

The competition is organised by UNESCO-UNEVOC, UNESCO’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Each year, it celebrates the role of skills development in preparing young people for employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development.

For the 2026 edition, participants are encouraged to submit photographs that highlight one or more of four important themes:

• Equity and Inclusion: Images that show skills training opportunities being made accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, disability, nationality, or social background.
• Green Skills and Sustainability: Photographs that capture environmentally friendly technologies, sustainable workplaces, or green jobs.
• Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence: Images of learners or professionals using coding, robotics, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, or other digital technologies.
• Innovation and Excellence: Photographs that demonstrate creativity, modern training methods, or technical excellence in vocational education and skills development.

Each participant may submit one photograph per category, allowing a maximum of four entries in total.

Who Can Apply?

One of the strengths of this competition is that it welcomes photographers from anywhere in the world.

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be the owner or copyright holder of every photograph submitted.
• Submit original photographs that relate directly to one or more of the competition themes.

Entries must be accompanied by a title, a short description of no more than 75 words, and information explaining where and when the photograph was taken. Images should be submitted in JPEG format, while RAW or TIFF files are accepted as an advantage during evaluation.

The organisers do not allow AI-generated images, photo collages, watermarks, logos, or digitally manipulated content that changes the authenticity of the original photograph. Minor editing, such as colour correction or cropping, is permitted if disclosed.

What Can Winners Expect?

The competition rewards both creativity and meaningful storytelling.

The top three photographers will receive:

• First Prize: US$750
• Second Prize: US$500
• Third Prize: US$350

In addition to the cash awards, winning photographers will receive an official certificate from UNESCO-UNEVOC. Their work will also be published on the UNESCO-UNEVOC Flickr gallery and promoted through the organisation’s international social media channels, giving winners valuable global exposure.
