Wharton Africa Business Forum New Venture Competition 2026 ($30,000 Funding)

Are you building an early-stage venture with a direct link to Africa? The Wharton Africa Business Forum (WABF) has opened applications for its 2026 New Venture Competition (WABF33) — the flagship pitch competition of the Annual Wharton Africa Business Forum, where founders compete for non-dilutive funding and direct access to top investors and founders across the continent.

This year’s forum theme is “Built by Billions: Africa’s Future on Africa’s Terms,” and the Top 5 Finalists will pitch their startups live to a panel of esteemed judges at the conference.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Wharton Africa Business Forum New Venture Competition 2026, your business must meet the following:

• Fewer than 50 full-time employees.
• Less than $250,000 raised to date.
• Business must have a direct link to Africa (the headquarters can be located outside Africa).

Prizes to be Won

At the 2025 forum, $30,000 in non-dilutive funding was awarded to the Top 3 Finalists. Beyond the cash prize, winners and finalists gain valuable networking access with top founders and investors from across the African continent.

Application Process

Interested founders should complete the official application form with details about their venture. The Top 5 Finalists selected will be invited to pitch live to a panel of judges at the Wharton Africa Business Forum conference.

Application Deadline: August 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Late applications will not be considered — there are no exceptions, so apply early.
