iF Social Impact Prize

iF Social Impact Prize 2026 for Social Entrepreneurs (EUR 100,000 Prize)

The iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE supports projects that contribute to improving our society. If you work towards achieving one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, your project is eligible.

If you are running a project that actively fixes a real-world problem on our continent, you already know that impact doesn’t pay the bills by itself. You need serious capital to take your solution from a small localized pilot to a community-wide reality. The good news? Global institutions are paying close attention to grassroots solutions that map to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The iF Social Impact Prize 2026 is currently accepting submissions, and it is a massive opportunity specifically targeting African startups, social innovators, and registered nonprofits that are creating tangible change and need a non-dilutive financial injection to scale up

What is it About?

This prize is a recurring global initiative by iF Design (Germany) built to discover, reward, and publish projects that improve living conditions or protect the environment. Unlike standard startup pitch nights that favor flashy slide decks and abstract concepts, this competition values execution over ideas.

Every year, iF Design dedicates a total funding pool of €100,000 to back the best submissions. They divide this into two distinct selection rounds per year—meaning €50,000 is up for grabs in this current second round. The evaluation framework looks closely at five distinct factors: the relevance of the local problem, target group impact, distinct innovation, long-term sustainability, and how design principles or creative problem-solving are integrated into your project’s everyday execution.

Eligibility Criteria

The entry process is entirely free of charge, but the selection committee has strict boundaries regarding who qualifies for a share of the money:

Global South Opportunities

  • You must be a registered company, social enterprise, design studio, NGO, foundation, or public institution actively executing an impact project.
  • Your project must directly align with one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • The project must be already established and fully operational—student concepts, theoretical ideas, or early-stage pilots that haven’t launched yet are strictly not eligible.
  • You cannot apply with a single project more than twice.
