NiDCOM Connected Diaspora x DOWA Start Up Challenge (N1Million Cash Prizes)

The Connected Diaspora x DOWA Start Up Challenge brings a timely opportunity for Nigerians abroad and diaspora returnees to pitch ideas that could reshape Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape. Launched by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in partnership with DOWA, the challenge is part of a wider effort to mobilise global Nigerian talent, channel innovation and support ventures that hold promise for economic development back home.

What the Challenge Offers

  • Cash prizes of up to ₦1,000,000 for winning ideas or ventures — giving early-stage startups a financial boost to launch or expand.
  • Exposure to investors, government stakeholders, and a network of entrepreneurs and industry players. This visibility can increase chances of partnerships, mentorship, and future funding.
  • Entry to the upcoming flagship event in Lagos — a platform combining pitching, networking, talent-matching, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Access to a diaspora-wide audience: the challenge is open to Nigerians in the diaspora, encouraging cross-border collaboration and knowledge transfer.

Who Can Apply?

The challenge welcomes:

  • Nigerians living abroad or returning diaspora talents with innovative ideas or business ventures.
  • Individuals or teams whose projects show potential for local impact, economic value, and scalability.
  • Applicants willing to participate in the final pitch session if shortlisted — in person or as required.

How to Apply?

  1. Submit your application online during the call-for-applications window. Entries for this 2025 round are open now.
  2. Provide details about your idea or venture, including what problem it solves, its potential impact, and how it aligns with the challenge’s goals.
  3. If shortlisted, prepare to present or pitch your proposal at the final event — scheduled to coincide with the 19 December 2025 Flagship Event in Lagos.
  4. Stay alert to the public-voting phase (if any) via Instagram or other platforms, as part of the selection process.
